hi all, today is a very sad day, as i've had my car broken in to.

smashed the passenger side door windows and tried to take stereo but n ogood as they couldn't get it out (hahahaha) BUT they took my sat nav (DAMN) nothin else though, it was only a cheap sat nav so not concerned. looks like a pros job (thats if u can call theiving a profession) as they only went for stereo and/or sat nav

happened in the kingswinford area of dudley, so watch out and be careful

i am now considering getting an alarm fitted, which ones are the best, is it still clifford

tough luck m8 but why did you leave your sat nav in the car?? I hope it wasnt on view....

no it was in the glovebox, i know i shouldnt leave it in the car, but u missed my question, i would like an alarm cat 1 preferably, i had a clifford matrix on a previous car which was mint, can anyone give any suggestions

don't bother buying an alarm, whats the point, they will still smash your window if they think there is something in their, and they may run off if the alarm is sounding they may not, but you will still end up with a smashed window, so u might as well, just remove the glovebox door/lid whatever you call it so they can see nothing in the glovebox, or leave it open if your that paranoid.

save your money and buy a new satnav, or some tech toys.

HAving an alarm won't stop people breaking in, if you just want a flashing led go buy one form maplins for 50p

i dont leave it in the car, i needed it to go somewhere the next day and as seen as i stopped at missus's last nite i think i can count myself a bit unlucky with that.

i dont think i've done bad 7 years of owning a car and this is the first time it has been broken in to

same thing happened to me on sunday night, smashed passenger window....

spent all day yesterday trying to get autoglass to find me a window... didnt have any, so ive got a piece of perspex till thursday now shocking service

well i got onto insurance and the boys in blue and i will have a new window in today

who you using for a new window? my insurance tried 3 diff glass companies, finally put me in contact with autoglass who said they had them, but when i got there they had none, but didnt tell me and made me wait 3 hours for a piece of perspex.

the satnav would obviously broadcast a signal and the signal would have some sort of ID and the ID would be connected to the serial no. of the satnav, so that would mean they would be able to trace where the signal is comin from and so on.

i know that seems a bit long winded but just a thought

^ dosent work like that im afraid, im sure it only uses the sattelite connections to calculate a position and dosent send out any sort of ID.

my satnav got nicked also... well half of it, as part of the circuit board is still bolted down to where i built it... plus, when mine starts up its got a pic of my car on the screen with my reg... and whoever has got it wont have any idea how to get it off.

Receive signals on open ciruit only,

Remember peeps, dont just hide your sat nav, you need to remove your dash or screen mount, and even wipe your screen where it has been.

the little tinkers even go to that extent

not worth it then mate. instead get your 3 yrs`and then start protecting ur no claims as this is the earlikest you can start doin this
