Anyone give me any tips on removing the aerial? Trying with pliers but all they're doing its shredding the plastic off the aerial.

managed to get mine off but make sure you have a new areial that will fit before you do it. just get some pliers and pull the rubber up until you cans see the metal screw bit and soak in wd 40 as said above. leave it a bit and then use some force and it will come undone. mine looked like it had been sealed with super glue or lock tight. the areial i was going to fit has a too small thread so i'm left with a battered looking areial lol

Wrap a small cloth around the arial then use all the force you want with the pliers, should come off easier and not shred your old ones to bit.

be careful not to rip the base of the areial of the roof if you use too much force though.

I bought one with universal fit (different screw bits) from rtec for about £10... about 16cm long, not as good reception as the old one but pretty decent considering its tiny size!

Found it easier just to order a new shorter aerial and base. Got both for about £10 off ebay.

Yeah i don't wanna completely destroy it cause i'm not POSITIVE the new one will fit. Tried oiling it, but i guess it couldn't penetrate to the metal screw part.
Will try the cloth thing, but i've had a go using kicthen towel which didnt help.
