Hanbrake - Urgent help required!

My handbrake is fooked. Sometimes it will not stay on the notches and will flick back down to not being on. It also makes this terrible clicking noise when it does it. Can anyone help!!! Ive got an MOT coming up soon!

this happened on my mates mini cooper. As it turned out the handbrake cable was shagged. It had been put under too much stress and strain and had extended so the handbrake was never really on. For now just leave the car in gear but youll definitely want to get it sorted. You could get the people at the MOT garage to do it for you maybe if they find out whats wrong with it.
