handbrale light

when parking on a hill and starting the car up i release the handbrake the light stil stays on but when on level surface it goes off, i topped up my brake fluid so its not that....

any ideas on what this could be

Could be the handbrake switch is sticking. Behind the handgrip on the handbrake lever there is a plastic cover. Hold either side and pull back as you would when applying the handbrake. It should pivot from the other end inside the lower handbrake surround. Now pull the cover along the line of the handbrake, this will release the other end of it and should give u just enough room to inspect the handbrake switch.
