Hard wiring Road Angel 2

Does anyone have any advice, or pictures of thier hard wired Road angel 2? I want to eliminate all the messy wires, and take the power straight from the cigarette lighter.

Please PM me if you have any useful info, with regards to accessing the wires on the cigarette lighter.I know what colour wires to expect as Ive seen previous postings on this. But wondered how easy it is to wire this up, and where to route wire

do it straight from your stereo +ve mate.may be easier to get too.then just take the top of your dash off and run it up there!

So, is it easy enough to take off the dash mate? I take it you strip the live wire off the stereo and connect it up. Then just use the same earth as the radio too?

it is easy to do,

run it from the fag lighter and run the cable up the left hand side! much easier!

Jay has some pics on here, he may post up if not ask him!

the wires from the RA2 are VERY thin, took me a while to get these connected up properly. Dont forget u need to FUSE the RA2 independantly. so get urself a fuse holder from halfords.

Ill pm Jay. How do you add the fuse? Just chop the wire and re-join it each end of the fuse holder??

you have to buy a fuse holder from halfords.....use the SAME fuse which is inside the RA2 fag end,

the fuse holder has wires each side....so just run it in-line with the positive side.

then hook up to the fag lighter. and also the earth. then your done., tidy up the wires rnd the side and hey presto!

Cheers HAS, Ive spoken to Jay too, and ill attempt this at the weekend. How did you re-connect wires between fuse holder and fag lighter? Bullet connectors, or just som etape wrapped round??.>

Use proper "in-line connectors (i forget wot they are called)

Blue square shaped ones.

the clip onto existing wires....and then there is a hole for the other item (RA2) and then u crimp em up/

Started it at weekend, wires on RA2 are so thin though! Will try the connectors, I know the ones you mean, blue with a blade/holder style thing that cuts into wire slightly.

Then will tape it all up! Was easy enough to pull out cup holders though!

Managed to wire it up and it works! You are right the wires on the road angel are sooooooo thin. I got a lighter and melted the coating to get to the wire. Then i wrapped it round the connector. I also fused it, just in case! Where did you feed the plug through to access the road angel on the dash??
