Has My Ecu Already Been Remapped

Car  RenaultSport clio 172 CUP
Bought my cup 172 about five weeks ago now and I love it to bits:D .

Only one problem the wife keeps wanting to drive it:mad:

Thinking about getting my ECU re-mapped but not sure if its already been done.

Is there any way of checking it.

I suppose you could see how high it revs as a few people up the limiter..especially if it has the Rsport on...most noticable in 4th where the std would do 115ish (iirc) the rsport will do 125ish

Chris

I have'nt pushed the car to the limit.

I surpose the only way to check then is to leave it in 4th and see how fast it goes before the rev limiter kicks in (when should that be).

Im not very technically minded, where is the ECU located so I can take a look at it:S .

Cheers for your help, nice to speak to fellow CLIO drivers:D .

Check the limiter in 2nd or 3rd as well, it should be the same as fourth.

When the cars warm it's 7.2k.

Depends on the ecu I think m8.....certainly on mine the limiter is lower in the lower gears....tbh I haven`t looked in 2nd, 3rd is about 7700 and 4th is pretty much 8k

Chris

Cheers mate will do.

I take it if it goes passed the 7.2 this means its most likely already been re-mapped.

I haven't driven any others apart from mine so I have nothing to compare it to.

Was it an rsport m8? I remember when I got a superchip on for a few days that it didn`t really raise the limiter much

Chris

Mine was a standard ECU, that's why I said, if his goes above 7.2k then chances are it's not standard! :o

Went for it in 3rd and the rev limiter kicked in at 7.2 at around 90mph so a guess its standard then.

Cheers for the advise dude's

It's fine mate, the limiter is there to save the engine, I used to hit the limiter in mine quite often, never had any engine problems.

Yeah the limiter is there to stop you doing any damage....change b4 but don`t worry if you don`t m8

Chris

Keeping it above 5 sounds good to me.

I will check it again when its been re-mapped.

Should I get an induction kit first??

Matt

^^^^ I wouldn't bother with the remap if your considering future mods , like s/s cat back exhaust ,decat , air filter , manifold matching etc .... remap afterwards .

Pmurray on here is supposed to be good at remapping .
