Having head skimmed, do i need a....

Car  DCI100
oversized head gasket? I'm expecting on a little bit to be taken of as the car hasn't over heated so it may not be warped.

no, you can skim a reasonable amount without worrying. Use good fuel always if more than about 6thou is taken off

Renault recommend you don't have the head skimmed iirc!!

My head gasket had gone or possible head cracked so I'm just dropping another engine in it!!

renault don't know s**t tbh. skimming is fine, just have to be a little careful to avoid detonation once it's fixed. changing the engine is mental if it really is just headgasket (doubt it, never happens)

No problem at all to skim an F4R head, as Danny says you need to be aware that an increase in CR will yield a requirement for better fuel on the same map.
Expect a slight increase in performance too, these engines LOVE more CR, but you'd need rollers to notice it for such a small change.

Mines a d7f engine i think? 1.2 8valve.

But thats cool i'm only having it skimmed out of precaution. I was leaking oil from the oil galleries at the back of the head. :) thanks guys

another engine that's more than fine to skim, infact a compression bump would again be a good thing

The engine is pretty slow to behonest, a tight set of tollerances on the valves and a new air filter etc. can only help :P it costs nothing so why not :)

My engine is full of mayonnaise, and would of cost £500 for cambelt/ dephaser and then head skimming and gaskets.

I picked up a second hand engine with less miles than mine that's had belts and dephaser done for £300 and I'm also a mechanic so won't take long to put back in as my old engine is sat on the floor!!

Thats fair play mate? surely it wouldn't of costed 500 if you were doing cambelt and head gasket your self? i spent 120 on the parts for excluding consumables still working on it though
