Head Gasket blown... Price??

Can someone give me an idea of the price to fit a new head gasket on a valver??

Yep £300-£400 unless something has gone BOOM!!!

Cost me more than that.... Think i payed £500+ for the head to be skimmed and polished, new water pump, new gasget ect

How comes it costs that much? Is it the Labour bumping it up?

Yeah mainly labour mate, full uprated headgasket kit is £80, water pump is £30, I would also change cambelt kit too £110, then if it needs skimming your talking another £100 all plus labour at £40 per hour ish

Engine out job...

what to change a HG!!!! why would you ever need the b/e out to do that?

if it wants skimming yeah it is more of a pain in the ass as you have to take both the fanimolds off etc but if its just the gasket it a piece of piss to do! you just need to make sure your feeling strong with a mate to lift the head off with the manifolds on and that you have a torque wrench that goes down to 25nm and can work out 107 degrees for the final head bolt tighten!

Well its what every garage has told me they have to do. Especialyl to change the water pump.

A valver/willy engine bay is rather tight
