:-( Head Gasket F'd Advice...

Please someone in the know give me some advice PLEASE!!!

Any one up on engines... the head gasket went on my poor clio yesterday... Well i'm assuming thats whats gone (white smoke from exhaust, coolant resovour(spelling) empty, drinking coolant like a fish when i top it up) its a 1.2 8v

I have been quoted about 300 as a starting price for the head gasket... (Is this a good price???)

Was looking at just buyin an identical engine and having that put in, would this buy cost effective at all if it was a like for like switch???)

Any thing anyone would advice would be MASSIVELY appreciated!

Or if anyone wants to earn some money and do it drop me a PM london based btw

I want to cry!!! Clutch is screwed too!!! Its a friends garage, hence why the price is like that (i wasn't sure if it was good or not)

Cheers for the seriously fast reply ben, do you know if it would do it any harm if i were to drive it with loads of water/coolant mix in the boot, and when ever it gets low top it up, just to get me to work and back for the next week until i can afford to sort it??

no do not drive it, you wil warp the head beyond repair

Ah man, i drove it back from college yesterday (just to get it home) by just adding some water to the coolant tank, at first it was a bit smokey from the exhaust, but then it disapeared and just looked perfectly normal and drove fine too and the temperature was normal... hmmm, hope i haven't destroyed it already.
