headlight adjustment

hi, fitted a new headlamp on my 97 clio, problem is the black plastic block that slots into the top corner of the back of the light wont connect onto the light properly, therefore the beam of the headlamp is very low compared to the other side, as it is not clicked onto the adjuster.....any ideas on how to get it connected properly? just having problems clicking them 2gether, as it just keeps popping out? hope u get what im on about
