  Renault Clio 1.2 16v
Anybody know anything I can use to sort out my headlight? Used wet and dry paper as stated on a guide on here and then the scratchx 2.0 but it looks abit dull.....

In all seriousness ( <-- That even a word?) Take a look at the thread SC030TT posted up...

Yes seriousness is a word.

SRP has the lowest amount of cut possible from polishes on the market today. If the OP would like to spend hours/days/weeks with that product, that's perfectly acceptable. But it's not the best suggestion fella, let's be honest.

Wise words.

OP, remember that you are working with plastic. It's not soft. For the size of area, you will require a harder compound than SRP. SRP by machine might, MIGHT, have the cut required, but you are doing by hand.

The process should be 1500 grit (as the absolute max), 2000, 3000, polish by machine if possible. If not, a decent cut polish like 203s on a hand cut pad.

i did mine with 1200 grit, and hand polished with scratchX 2.0 and they come up like new within seconds. I was expecting to be buffing away for hours but it was litterally minutes!

Ive known people to start with 800 grit, but as JD said, there should be no reason to start that low as 1500 grit should be sufficient enough to get rid of the defects. SRP wont correct the final finish by hand for the results your after, would take hours. A heavy cut compount is needed to even attempt it by hand. Menzerna 3.02, 3M Extra Fine, Megs 203s . All these will work on handpad but patience will still be needed.

I've tried lots of cutting compounds, think i will go out and get some high grade wet and dry paper and have a go today. Thanks for the help and i'll let you know how i go on

You have done a good job of the sanding from what i can see. What was the last grade of sand paper you used?. It looks like you have either not finished with 3000 grit or your not rubbing hard enough. The higher the grit you go, the easier to correct.
