Headlight problem - warranty

One of my headlights (Mk2 172) only comes on intermittently - probably the ballast resistor (seen it called the starter pack on here). The car is under 3 years old (just) and has only done 13K miles.

The dealer is claiming that headlights are not covered by the warranty and I may have to pay out for the resistor myself - about £150 I think .

They are checking it now, but does this sound right and whats the best way to argue this point??

Thanks,

Gareth

The best way to argue is with your foot on his throat.

The headlight bulb is a consumable just like tyres, brakes, exhaust etc therefore the bulbs arent covered.

Damaged head light units arent covered either, eg stone chips etc.

However the resistor in a non wear, non consumable component so should be covered. Much as the wireing loom and switch gear.
