Headlight Washers

Hi, Ive managed to loose one of the rubber balls in my headlight washer jet, when I took it in for servicing a few weeks ago, they said, it needed to be replaced, which I thought was right, but theyve called me back to say the parts come in and they need to fit it. I said I thought it was just the rubber ball but theyre saying they need to replace the whole washer jet. Is that right? has anyone else had Renault say the whole thing needs to be replaced?

ah bugger, thats what they said. shame its not my rear bumper as I need a new one thanks to some munter whos wrecked it and left a huge dent in my tail gate (getting bugged off with people putting dents in my car).

Dont bother getting Renault to do it, just buy yourself a new one. They cost about £7 and pop the ball out, and pop it into the existing one. I did it a couple of months ago and its still there. Id rather do that than risk Renault taking my dam bumper off.

I know _KDF did it months ago and his is still in too.

From time to time I just give mine a quick check to make sure they havent worked loose.

Heres my post from a month or so back. http://forum.cliosport.net/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=6&TopicID=64369&SearchPagePosition=1&search=washer&searchMode=allwords&searchIn=Topic&forum=0&searchSort=dateDESC&ReturnPage=SearchLink

the entire thing needs doing really its a bumper off job
I thought you were taking the p1ss! should be more trusting!

I would do it myself, but they said its a warranty thing so theyre doing it for free. They did a good job when they sorted the head light out, so I think I trust them enough to do the washer jet. They didnt even put any mileage on my car (bonus if you ask me). I think the trick is to take it in on a Saturday when they have 2 people working and no time for them to take it for a run around.

Ye mine is still in to this day.. its a 2 second job.

Last time renault took off my bumper when I got the car back I noticed the plastic surround around the foglight was loose and about to fall off, and the cover bit under the engine was also hanging loose.. great service.

Yeah, I lost my balls on my 1st 172, took it in to get it fixed under warranty and they didnt pop out then ! It is as everyone else has said, a bumper off job unfortunately.

This problem only happened on early MKII 172s IIRC, they changed the design so it didnt happen to later models, I may be wrong but I am sure I read that somewhere.

ah, daipac if thats the case it maybe why theyre replacing it. Theyve already been messing around with my front bumper to put a new fog light in, without it causing any problems so far.

My 1st 172 was a March 2002 model (as is my current one come to think of it) so if yours was built around the same time then that is why.

Dont worry about it, it is good fun shooting cars coming the other way with your water jets ! LOL !

:p

I got mine in July but it was pre registered so it could be the same problem anyway. Ive not tried to hit cars coming the other way... sounds like a good laugh... I normally try hitting the car in front of me.

My July 03 172 is going in next wednesday for a new headlamp washer as well!!

Mine will also be recieving a new computer as well.

Thank god for warrenties

glad its not just me. Believe it or not, I only spoted it when I wondered why there was a sudden water fountain at the front of my car when I went to wash the screens. Its amusing when you put them on though.
