Iv got 35-40 pounds to blow on a set of headphones. Iv done a quick google and a search on here (there are threads about this but not quiet the same price bracket i dont think!) but what would you lot reccomend

In ear wise Sennheiser CX400s are superb.

And Sony HDJs are great too.

Another vote for Sennheisers here - so much better than the standard apple jobs, but I also prefer them to my pricey Bose in-ear jobs too, as the isolate external noise much better...

and those Sennheiser CX400 headphones seem decent its just the prices vary massivly. IE on play 35 quid but elsewhere 15 quid :S Fakes?

I'd personally go for the Goldrings, google them with 'review' added. Should give you a fair idea of what to expect.

Good phones by all accounts, especially for that money!

Yeah the £15 ones are fakes however we have been sent a load of them from a supplier in China who sends us our computer peripherals and they are superb.

Few of the guys have been using them for a couple of months now with no problems and they sound much better than my Bang an Olufsen ones too.

B&O is terrible value for money. Paying for the brand imo

Too true.

I would have said they are decent headphones until i heard the Sennheiser's. Superb bass from them. You would really think you were wearing much larger closed ear headphones.

^ If your benchmark for good phones is "superb bass" then that explains why you think some £15 POS buds sound better than B&O.

If you want good bass (read:muddy sound) then just buy some £15 Sony. If you want good phones (with midrange/treble) then spend more.

All subjective, but personally I think some people's opinions of what sounds good is drastically different from what IS good.

if u want bass, buy skull candys. the cx300s have good bas response too but in some opinions a bit too bassy.the best set i ever used were these but not practical for the tube lol!!!

Bass is the easiest frequency set to get from any phones though, just use a bass boost EQ on your source. Or better still use a headphone amp like the (£5) Fiio E3 which will change the dynamic of any phones you attach it to - much improved for those who think that brands like Shure lack bass.

Try getting good clean, mid/treble on bass heavy phones though and you'll struggle. They'll be absolutely zero instrument seperation, and fk all sound stage. As ever, most people who claim Shure et al lack bass just don't have the right fit in their ear, they rely completely on a proper seal to produce bass.

Moving away from the OP, but that's my take on it.

Most headphones ive ever tried have sounded terrible. I listen to bassy music so would like to hear what the music is supposed to sound like rather than a tinny bang from a drum each time.

The sounds much better from the fake Sennheisers than the real B&Os. Most likely down to the in-ear nature of the sennheisers rather than the B&Os that hang onto your lug.

if not already said, http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/3317643/Sony-MDR-EX85-In-Ear-Headphones/Product.html they are superb, got them when they had a price drop, think i picked them up for £18 or something, unfortunately there back up to just over £30 but still excellent sound good treble and bass etc.

Heard good things about them though, and at that price it's not a huge loss.
