Heater fan stuck on full

I've had a problem this evening with my fan being stuck on full power. The direction and temp work fine as does all the display but even when the off button is pressed the fan is on full power!? I had a search an came up with another guy who had the same problem and he was told its the fan resistor pack and is a cheap 5 min fix. Is this true and if so what is it and where can I find it on my car?? And a replacement??

Yeah its the resistor pack it went on my clio not too long ago pal, the resistor pack is on the drivers side at the bottom of the windscreen where the bonnet meets take the two plastic clips out and pull it off, its the black thing thats going near to the middle of the car, i dont know how to explain it but there is loads of things on here about it and tutorials so just have a look around! But in regards to getting it fixed i just used a guy on ebay, cost 30 quid, got it back 4 days worked like a charm so good luck!

Sounds like a guff heater resistor tbh.

Yep its the rheostat/ resistor . New from renault are circa £130.

Heard there is a repair guy on ebay though.

Heard good things about him on here.. he strips it down and rebuilds them iirc

Don't buy any cheapo copies off ebay or the like as they are about as good as a bost genuine one.

Have you bridged pins 1 and 5 to check it definatly is the resistor at fault.

I have just had exactly the same problem as the OP happened last night, going to get it sent off to that guy. lucky its freezing outside but not going to enjoy 26C on full whack when the sun comes out!

No :S lol owell if it come back and is still faulty ive only spent £30 not £125

Ignore about bridging the pins thats only if the blower isn't working at all lol my bad

you can buy the resitor on ebay for a 4 quid if your happy to take it apart and do a bit of soldering yourself there is/was a guide on here showing you what to do

I don't have a soldering iron and I've sent my unit away now but thanks though.

I haven't, I think it was posted on here a while back so I just have it in my watched items as I'll no doubt need to get it done at some stage.

Posted my unit off on Friday afternoon, recieved it back this morning... Verdict... Plugged it in worked fine! If you every have this problem use this guy and save £100 rather than buying a new one from Renault.

eBay resistor for £4 and abit of soldering. Did it in an hour from start to finish
