heater matrix - HELP!!!!

well im new here so i thought i'd post up about my knackered heater matrix as a first post!!

has anyone else had a problem with the heater matrix on a mk1??

how easy is it to change? because i spent 2 hours on getting the dash out and got stuck!! :S

can anyone help??

It is a right b**ch of a job, if its taken you two hours to get the dash out, get prepared to take a couple of days off work....

went on my 205gti, drove 300 miles with a puddle at my feet lol, turn the heater on till u can get it fixed and keep filling the water up.

It's just a mini radiator really, is it totally gone i.e split at the seams? Try radweld maybe if you cant be bothered with the effort

They arn't the best of jobs to do on a Clio.. really..

Probably help to have two people.. can just have one person holding the dash forward whilst the other gets under the dash and changes it over!

It went on my old MK1, didnt get round 2 fixing it and ended up crashing because of it as the windows are very ahrd to keep clear! Wrote off my car as well!

So I cant help you as I have never changed it b4, but be warned get it fixed asap

This weather, it's not fun.

Mine wasn't working last winter.. and I could keep he windscreen clear but by blasting cold air at it.. so like, it was colder in the car than outside.

Not fun.

Got a new one in now.. and it's awesome. Warm within a few minutes then gets nice and hot.. mmmmmmmm.

a new chapter to the events....the radiator bleed nipple is spewing out water as well now!!...so i need to change that at some point. hopefully i will have a new radiator tomorrow and i already have the new matrix so it should all get changed in the next few days!...FINGERS CROSSED!!!

i had this problem and found that it was the plug that goes onto the heater fan itself the wire had burned out instead of it being copper it was black dont know if this helps at all

well after alot of f'ing and blinding....I'VE DONE IT!!!!!

i managed to change the heater matrix and the radiator (which was broken as well) and flush the system out and put a whole new load of antifreeze and water in it!!

now i've just gotta sort out the grinding noise from the front passenger wheel :S
