Heater Problems, Any Suggestions?!?!?

Hi all,

My heater has always only worked on notch 3 on my Mk1 RSi!!!!

I did change the heater control panel (switches etc) and this did not solve the problem

Any Suggestions?

hi mate from what u say it sounds like the reostat (resister pack) which controls the speeds on the fan if it only works on the highest speed this is because there is no resistance on the highest speed track but lower speed have different resistances so controling the power sent to ur heater fan

You've got to take your wipers off and the black panel below them. Look inside where the wiper motor is and you'll see the rheostat (like a metal wire element thing). That's the one.

thanks, do i need to replace it or do you think these are fixable?

no need to remove the wipers mate there is a small panel on the left hand side of the scattle panel one clip then pull upwards and towards the front there will be a clip on the top of the wing, undo the and it will b in front under the windscreen, u cannot repair these straight forward replacement. and yea there easy where u based mate?
