hello im new....

  none, just walk

hello!!!

at the moment im thinking about wether or not to get a mk1 clio 1.8 16v, my mate has a 1.8 rsi 8v and its nutts!- compared to my 1.4 honda civic (which will be going the journey at the end of this month)

i would love to know off people on here- what are they really like? (16v) are they really as expensive to look after as everyone said they are? it seems that evey review ive seen of them is like "fast as hell but running costs are really bad!" and thats really putting me off a little,

ive got 2 to 2.5k to spend on one so im after a williams blue one so will i be able to get a good one for that?

i know there is a good buyers guide on this site already- but i want a unbiased competly honest opinon-even if you hate the car i wanna know why and what to look out for.

please help:)

LOL :D

Yeah, Id say go for a different colour to blue but its all down to personal taste!

You should be able to get a pretty good one for £2.5k. Given the choice of spending that on a 16valve or something else Id go for the valver everytime.

Running costs arent that bad really considering how old they are. It seems from whats said on here that most of the things that will go will go before 100k on the clock so either get a really low mileage one or go for a bit higher!

Oh, and welcome to the board. Hope to see more of you in the future! ;)

Buy a valver but buy a good en !! for 2.5k you should be able to get a good en with a good SH !! but make sure its black

Welcome mate, go for the 449 blue, looks purple sometimes n looks blue others!!

then go for the 2.0ltr conversion he he

Hello mate, im also quite new!!

I would say get a 16valve and for 2.5 you will get a sound one, Mines a k plate and its a very realiable car indeed!

Things gone wrong in two years of owning mine!!

The electrics i found to be the main thing to go my passenger side window takes forever to close, teperature gauge light no longer works, heater on level 3 only works when it wants to and rear window heater button light no longer works but im sure this will be fixed.

My car has never broke down majourly, but i have spent a fair bit of money on her!

Mechanical faults!!!

Steering pump makes a noise, water pump leaking cost nothing to fix about £60, and clutch cable snapped which cost £10 from GSF and takes ages to fix as i find there is no room to work in the engine. Clutch is going now at 78.000 so that will cost about £200

other than that mate youll love it very fast car, make a great noise, a real head turner loads of modding potential!

Regular maintenence, looking after her ect and she will look after you! Make sure you change Cam belt about 69,000k else you will be sorry!! My mates snaped and it would of cost him a bomb to sort out but he knew someone *lucky b*****d*

When you take it out for a spin check in engine bay for rusty water stains from previous leaks, and crumpled brackets from previos owner accidents.

Hope you enjoy owning a 16valve as uch as i do will be very gutted to sell mine!
