I just bought a clio 172 2l 16v on 47,000 miles and love it!

I would like to ask a few questions quickly if nobody minds....

it last had a service on 35k, so is 47k about right for me to run it up to renault?

also, cambelt/aux belt have never been done. what mileages are recommended by owners?

hi, and welcome, people say do the cambelt at about 72k or every 5 years, but diffrent people have diffrent opinions on this, if your not sure just get it done anyway, whats £100 odd pound to a new engine? better to be safe then sorry. enjoy the site!

not sure about the 172 but my 1.6 book service is every 18,000 miles. although it's currently on around 15,000 and is starting to splutter

Hi! Think the 172 is service every 12,000 miles? Cambelt I think is recomended at 72,000 miles but alot of people seem to do them at 36,000 / 5 years just in case. Welcome to the club anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy

also is 300 quid a good service price from renault or is it worth going elsewhere?

I would actually prefer renault myself come to that as it helps retain value and you can gaurantee good service I suppose...

may well get it done now rather than later along with a service just to ensure it's all in good working order and will last.

any common faults to look out for?
