Help and advice needed

Hi,

I have a Clio Sport 182 and have a loud tapping and rattling noise coming from the engine. Seems to be coming from the top end.
So far, in the past 2 weeks, have had the cam belt, cambelt followers, de-phaser pulley and timing belt replaced.
It is still making the noise!!!
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated as running out of money!!

i had one like that, turned out it had span a shell (yes very weird!)

when does it make the noise? all the time? does the noise get faster with revs?

Yes definitely gets faster with revs (what does 'span a shell' mean?

Hi,

Spoke to the mechanic this morning and you were correct - it has span a shell!! Do not know where to go from here? Is this something that you could mend/fix? It has had new cam belt, cambelt followers, de-phaser pulley and timing belt so far. If you can fix it what would the cost be? How long would it take?

Hi can get an engine from Clio spares (£600 + £50 delivery) but it has no cam cover. Can you let me know the cost for labour? Thanks
