To all,

I am new to ClioSport and I am looking for help and advice. Im 17 and wanting a Clio as a first car, specifically the mark 2 between years 2000 - 2005. Can anyone give me help and advice on what to go for...

1.4 8v?
1.2 16v?

Any advice on performance, fuel consumption, safety, insurance, general costs and other features would be greatly appreciated.

My car is a 1.2 16v, I would get that as it is the cheapest on the insurance, even though I pay 2200 fully comp

I'm 18 and it was my first car (got it when I was 17)

Stick with a 1.2 until you have a few years NCB, unless you want to go on your parents policy, then get whatever you want But you won't get NCB which are magical!!

Just think for the future.

Is there any difference in performance between the 1.2 16v and the 1.4 8v? I know te specs are roughly the same, but not always true....

I would say the 1.4 would be marginally faster, but I have not experience with the 1.4, only 1.6 and 1.2.

See if you can have a go in each one

Yeah I think the same, but will it be thirstier? Ive had a brief drive in a 1.2 16v and it was pretty cherpy.

Hi i got a 1.4 8v when i was 17 as my first car. it was a little expensive on insurance but i came down alot now that im 18.
Performace is nice and the mpg is great.

As said. there's very little in performance difference.... I'd just look for both and buy whichever individual car is the best. Not much point pidgeon holing yourself.
