help as sky are useless

right ive just been and got a surround sound system and have sky+, xbox 360 and a wii and i want them all to run together through the same speakers (obviuosly not at the same time) but i cannot seen to do this? anyone know of a way to do this i will start from scratch tomorrow buy dissconnecting everything so please helllllllllllllp me :)

not sure about the wii.. i just use the lead that the xbox came with, the sound cable into the SS, and the video part into the tv

i really think mine all needs setting up from start as its a mess totally so could you talk me through start to finish with the sky/xbox/surround sound as if i had just got them new (which i have)

hook everything (xbox/wii/sky+) up to ur tv then put the AUX cable into the tv that should work on everything

You need to run each using a seperate cable to the receiver on different inputs.

If you don't have enough inputs, you'll need to use a switcher.

Well it depends if you're using coax, optical, phono?

So many factors..

Basically, Sky, Xbox and Wii need connecting to the receiver.. :p

have u not got 3 scarts in the back of ur tv?

by the way this is the set up i have on my tv

sky/ps3/dvd player then the sound goes into the tv

Daz can you talk me through how i would set it all up from start and what i would need to buy extra??

So many factors, such as what connections you have on your AV receiver (surround sound amp), connections on the TV, outputs on the devices etc

Take picture of the back of your tv showing scarts and other inputs and take a picture of the back of your surround system

Much easier for ppl to help then mate

If you want true surround from your sky box (i.e 5.1 in films) you will need an optical Toslink cable which will come out of the Sky + box and should connect upto the back of your surround sound a/v reciever (if it has it of course ;)).

Also the Wii will connect up via a phono cable (Red/White Pin connections) and I presume this is the same for the 360. So in all you will need at least 3 inputs on the suround sound a/v reciever.

  Shhh
Can you not get a av reciver, then put all the sound through this, then the video into the tv..

just means you will have to change it over when you want to change sources.

That's what I suggested (as it's the only way to do it properly really), but it's impossible to say without knowing the model or inputs on either the receiver or TV..

If you only have 2 scarts on your TV then plug the 360 and sky into the TV (set to RGB if you can as much better). Then on the back of your sky box you should hopefully have 2 scarts one going to the TV and then plug the Wii into the other (loop through) and if like my PVR then when you turn the box off and the Wii on then it will work (again set to RGB if poss). As for the sound you will need an optical input on your amp for the 360 for best results. Might need one for sky also (my PVR uses coax) and not sure about wii but for best results they all need to go straight into the amp via a digital input if possible.
