Just cut the old belt off, use a jubilee to compress the new tensioner before fitting, just make sure you but the adjuster on the jubilee towards the top do you can loosen it once it's fitted
After doing god knows how many of these with a snap on ratcheting tool, I have to say I prefer using a jubilee clip, slackens the tension further and gives you two hands free to get the belt on.
