HELP!! Car Says it's 53 degrees outside!!

My 172 is trying to kid me that it is 53 degrees outside when it's about -1, what's it think it's doing? Also, my blowers are coming out cold when on 24/25 and only get hot on max. Has anybody got any idea what this is and how/how much to fix it. Getting well sick of Renaults now!!

Thanks for any help,

Mike.

Fecking French sh1t, how can your temp gauge go so soon!! Did this affect your blowers too?? Also, do you have any idea how much and how easy it is to do, will it hurt if I leave it for a bit, I still have my engine mounts to do, it's only an 02 on 33K!!!!!

Its either the sensors broke or the wires failed. the sensor can be reacehed by removing the front of the passengers sidewing mirrir. the snesor is the little nippley bit stickig out from the bottom. Check the senors resistance agains what it should be (posted here http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111578)
The reason its pumping out cold air is that it uses the external air temp to calculate what to di and thinkign its 53 outside it pumps in cold air.

It won't matter if you don't do it but the temps going to be wrong and aircon going to keep annoying you you cn just turn ac off though
What mounts have gone? gearbox one rarly fails engine one need some diy touches to fix and the other one is always weak best get the k-tec or a new Renault one there not much £.
Depends hwo you drive /how good a car it is how long they last.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies, will leave the sensor until after the mounts are done. Not sure what one it is, I've done the dogbone (got the K-tec) mount but the engine still sounds like it's going to fall out, not just under hard acceleration, just pulling away and reversing I get loud clunks, I can fully appreciate how I drive affects how long things last on the car but I occasionally drive it as a Renault Sport but do not abuse it, this however should not affect the temp gauge, nor should it make my door pin fall out so the door hangs off and all the other problems associated with owning a Renault. Still love driving it though!!!!
