Help choosing an HD in car video camera

  LY 172
I'm looking to put a camera in my car just for recording some driving I'll be doing in Europe this summer

Should be,
Not to expensive
HD
Decent memory./expandable
Not to big.

Anyone got any ideas or experience ?

£100

And was looking for something a bit smaller than the go pro. So if I wanted it could be mounted in the front grill

The Go Pro can be mounted in the front grill by using the stand it comes boxed with. Drill a hole in each corner then cable tie it. Also a Go Pro is hardly big.

Of all footage I've seen from 'small' HD cameras Go Pro is the best. Whether its quality of image, lack of wind noise, image stabilization Go Pro trumps all. I'm doing Europe in June and bought a Go Pro for the same reason you are.

Does the GoPro do something to reduce wind noise then?

Going to Europe in May and wouldn't mind a little camera, just the GoPro seems expensive for the use it'll get.

The Hero1 is like £50-60 more expensive. Look at the link in my first post :)

The hard case helps with it up until around 100mph (massive guess based on what I think I read, haven't experienced it myself). I may have a blat tomorrow going to work and take the bypass and see how it holds up on the exterior.

The wind noise you hear is obv the car and the rattles... Well the coilovers are a tad stiff.

Contour do HD cams too. More compact than Go Pro but bit more expensive too. It's more of a larger bullet cam design.

Bigest -ve about them though is that earlier ones dont have screen like Go Pro so not easy to see what you're pointing at, but does have 2 lasers to help. But newer one has an output module that sends signal to an app so you can see what you're shooting on phone.
