Got a sort of creaking noise coming from front passanger side of car (172 52 reg) when pulling away in first.also does it slightly when turning steering with car stationary. changed all engine mounts so it aint that :S Anybody else got any idea what it might b ????

My 182 does this to, it becomes louders if im reversing or driving up a multistory carpark! i canrt really tell where the noise is coming from though possible something to do with the steering rack?

Check the covers under your wheel arches, anything looks loose, could be catching your drive shafts. Track rod ends and ball joints have a look at them. Check the bellows on your drive shafts for splits etc.

Have checked driveshafts ball joints gaitors and changed all engine mount so not any of those . anyone else had this problem ? ? how many miles has yours done jay and how long has it been making the noise ??. mine is just like you describe :S :S

i had a creaking noise at the back passenger side of my car! Turned out to be my sons child seat rubbing on the leather!!!!!!!!!!!:o

I used to have this problem. Took a while to figure it but all that needed doing was the cv or ball joints, something like that needed reattaching and oiling. Now i hyave no creaking which is lovely as it was loud at times.

Aw man. I get this problem too. I sounded like it was comming from the dash on the passenger side. Now it's a lot louder. I notice it the most pulling away from slow speeds in 1st and 2nd. I don't even have to put my foot down for it to make the noise. I can be taking it really easy. It's a horrible creeking sound. Sounds like rubber or plastic. Runs right through me sometimes. I get it when crusing along a bumpy road too. Never noticed it when turning and some times I can go 5 - 10 mins without hearing anything. Gonna check all gators and mounts when I get a warmish day off, lol.

When i first start the car it ok but then gets worse as i drive and it mainly did it when turning (could really here it when turning at slow speed) and kinda here it when going straight.

i had that. was worse turning right on mine. It was something to do with the cv/ball joint. They didnt replace it just reattached it and lubbed it. now i have no creaking noise.

take it to a garage and tell them that theyl check it.

Just replace the lower suspension arm, about £67 for the part from Renault.

As mine did that for ages and took a few visits to pin it down, but I would say 99% that will stop it.

thanx for help guys .Dan Was it the bushes gone in the arms then ? ? did ya get the noise when just pulling away in first also ? This does sound like what it could be. can you change just the bushes or do you have to get the whole arm ? ?

I had it pulling away especially in traffic and when it was hot got worse, and slightly turning the wheel.

It was cheaper and easier for renault just to do replace the arm, rather than the labour to replace the bushes.

thanx mate will have a look that :) Sounds just like what mines doin , what miles had yours done about when you had thee arms swopped ?

I had a knocking noise on full right lock. Then I had a bit of an accident on a slippy road last year and bent the lower arm on a curb. Replaced the lower arm and since then the car no longer makes a noise on full lock. Is there a chance we're cunfusin knockin with creekin? LOL :)

Probably around 35k, a few people have had it, and it always seems to the passengers side.

So I would give it a try anyway.

I have this very slight creaking noise also. Think the lower arm comes complete with bushes and ball joint . Maybe it's the rubber top mount on front shocks when turning these come in contact with the car body, try doin a search the v6cli runs same shock assembley as 172 but has a 3mm metal washer (Factory mod) to space the rubber bush up slightly :. clearing the body just a thought?

have done the strut top washer mod so it aint that its a different noise .but it is passanger side so I think it could be the arm . anyone else changed the arm and cured it ? ? ?:S

sounds like it could be front trailing arm bushes anybody else had this problem ? ?:S

Mine has stopped :D It was the battery. Slackened the two bolts made sure the battery was in secure then re-tightened them. I'm soo happy :D

Gonna change front roll bar bushes tomorra to see if that cures it .:S :rasp:

Nice one

Creaks are part of Renault ownership though....I'm sure another one will start up to take it's place lol
