Help. Excessive crank pressure

  Clio 172 cup
Looking for some advice. I have a 53k clio 172 track car. I recently went on a evening at donnington where the engine ran perfectly. However when I stopped to let it cool down I noticed the dipstick had popped up and there was oil everywhere. Not thinking to much into it I cleaned it up and refilled the oil it had lost. Again the car ran perfectly but only to find it had done the exact same thing again. Ended up using about 1 litre of oil in 20 laps.
I have checked the oil breather and all seems ok. When I blow down the pipe with the dipstick removed it blows through easily so I presume this will eliminate that being blocked ?

Any advice or similar problems that anyone knows about?
Thanks.

Just wondering if maybe the seal on the dipstick itself has failed, is it still quite stiff to pull out or does it slide out easily? (Ooh-er missus ;) )

The dipstick isn't particularly difficult to pull out but there is a bit of resistance there. It's my 3rd 172 and I've always thought they were easy to pull out so I don't think that's the issue.

I was hoping you wernt going to say piston rings lol nightmare job.
What's a ring gland?
