Help Fitting Instrument Cluster

I've just been to the scrappys to pick up a new instrument cluster from a Mk1 1.4 to fit into my Mk1 1.2.

Once it was all fitted I started the engine and everything worked apart from the tachometer. Now the reason I bought the clocks was for the tacho as mine doesnt have one.
The thing is it has the loom, so I though once connected it should work, alas, it doesnt. I know there is nothing wrong with the clocks, so am I missing something?

Is there a fuse somewhere that needs to be plugged in.

Any help would be great,

Thank you

There is something you have to do, but I can't remember what it is for the life of me. I'm sure someone will know though.

Think you have to get an rpm pulse feed from somewhere because your loom has got one in it. Not sure where from though, would imagine from the ecu as its a DIET engine if its the one in your sig?

If its the same as the Mk2 then pin 1 of the ECU is the RPM pulse but i'm not 100% on the Mk1 so i'd get it confirmed first.

Thats also a distinct possibilty tbh, do the part numbers match? I'm assuming yours is a Mk1 Ph3 as its a DIET engine? Did the clocks come out of a Ph3?

No they came out of a 1.4 ph2 I think, there wasn't much left of the car tbh.

Ai it is a Mk1 Ph3 with the D7F. I might just have to find a Mk1 Ph3, and use that.

Thanks for the help :)

Right, I've dug up this old thread beacuse I have bought a new cluster from a Mk1 Ph3 Rsi. The tacho still doesn't work!

Can anybody help this time round? Can I wire it up myself?

Thanks
