Cheap MX-3 1.8 V6 off my mum + spend £1500 on goodies for it.

NO NO NO to the MX-3

for me.......... 172 mk1

As much as i like the 106 the 172 just has more goodies and it ultimatly the better car. Won top gears best hot hatch in a shoot out ages a go - was posted on here before

depends on price mate..how much u looking at spending? for 5k u will get a mk1 but will it be in good nic?TBH id prob spend 4k on a gti

Toss up between the 172 and the 106 imo. Drive a 106 1st if you can, they arent an ideal seating position for taller people. I found it a bit of a pain when i drove my mates and have the same problem with my brothers VTR (im 6ft3)

Yep I testdrove a 106GTI and found the pedals to be cramped and offset, very odd position.

Ive had a 106 gti before, so i know what theyre like. Just dont want to pay the extra for the 172 for them to plummet in price and be not that much quicker than a 172

I test drove a 106 fookin hated it!

For me a it would be a mk1 172.

How big are ur feet??!! Anything over a 9 and ull struggle with the footwell. 172 for me

what car you drive at present Clart? if youve had a 106 before maybe a 172 would be a nice change... plus for the money your looking at the depreciation wont be too bad over a few years probably. always makes sense buying a bit older IMO

Im tempted to say the Gtiiii.. but then again I love the 172..

What colours are they? Presumably the 106 has leather?

Id go for the GTI, you get used to the pedals, but seeing as youve had one before id go for the 172, i just dislike the LOOK of mk 1s thats all.
