help! my alarm keeps goin off.........

on my williams, its just the standard cobra one, u kow when you disarm it u get the 2 beeps and then you start the car and away you go.........

well now it disarms then i start the car and the alarm itself starts blaring, pressing the fob does nothing so the only way to get it off is go under the bonnet and use the key to turn it to off, its driving me mad now, it started blaring in mickey ds carpark, lol

as always any help appreciated :)

Right - after the problems Ive just had pal, Im a expert.

1. Does it randomly go of once the engine is started ?

2. Does arming the alarm and setting it off by opening the door, bonnet, tailgate, and waving your hands around inside work?

3. Tape down the bonnet alarm switch, Arm the alarm, and disconnect the battery terminal, the alarm senses its being attacked and should sound. Does it ?

4. Check all connections for corrosion/bad earths.
If you want to know where every thing is Pm me.

I have a few spares from when mine played up before I had it replaced.

(Brand new battery pack for the siren. Spare siren unit. Spare brain, and a wiring loom)

Mine turned out to oringinaly have one fault, then it had two, one was the siren going off when i drove it, which turned out to be corrosion on the brain pcb. Its easy to get inside to have a look. PM me if you want the details.

And the other fault appeared after the brain was sent away for testing/repair it came back and knackered my imobiliser unit.

To repair that was £70 and Id already spent £60 odd.

Time for a new alarm.

Thats what the guy who replaced mine said. But didnt help me much - I wanted mine fixing to retain the orginality of the car. But the one thats on now is a hell of a lot better. I even payed out for a antitilt sensor fitting.

Ive seen 2 other williams 2s with there alarms in various states of disability. Some work, others dont.

If you want to try/buy some spare parts from mine your more than welcome.

i havent even used the actual alarm since i got the car as it used to go off for no reason all the time so i just used the immobiliser, i think i am just gonny get it replaced with a toad ai606 or clifford concept 300.

what would yous reccomend out of these 2? and how much should i be looking for to get it fitted as u can get them off ebay at not bad prices. thanks

sounds like the alarm ecu isnt disarming so when you start up the car and drive it away it thinks its being pinched and triggers the alarm. most likely an ecu fault.

The Williams alarm isnt linked to the ECU tho?

Tiger, Id say Concept 300 - but thats cus I have one on my 1.2.. The Ai606 is very good too.. hehe.

Ah.. hehe.

Well, I know most people who have the Standard Alarm have given up with it very shortly after having it.

I replaced my old Cobra alarm with a new Cobra alarm. After all They are still good enough to be fitted to new renaults.

Dont give up on it just like that, spend a day just tracing the fault. Might even save you £400.

You can buy alarms cheaply enough from ebay, but if you have a Thatcham 1 alarm it needs to be fitted by a approved fitter to get your certificate of instalation for claming insurance discount.

my alarm is crap! if it goes off u cant stop it with the fob or any thin! it just makes a mad tickin noise aswell as the alarm sounding! then eventually it will shut the f**k up lol!

mines on a 2000 clio tho! bloody crap ass thing!
