Help Needed!!! Gearbox Leak

can anyone shed some light on a leak ive just had diagnosed on my clio 172 cup, the gear change seal has decided to fail on me leaving me with a massive bill!!! has this happened to anyone else if so wots the best price you had and where as ive just been quoted over £500 as the gearbox needs stripping!

Yipp, gearbox needs stripping. There is some kind of repair kit available that doesn't need the box to be split but heard thet it's not that reliable. Gearbox refurbs aren't that pricey if you are able to get the box out and bring it to a specialist like Agency Transmission.

a gearbox specialist near me charges 395 inc vat for a full strip down and re-build!! £500 sounds very expensive to me!!

Definately ring them, when my gearbox exploded this guy was very helpful on the phone in terms of telling me what a refurb will cost
and what's involved from a slight refurb to a full rebuild.

Unfortunately my box was shredded so I just bought one from a breakers for £270.

Repair kit is £35 and take 1-2hours to fit

where do you get this repair kit from? My box is leaking oil from the bottom somewhere, Everytime I look underneath you can see a drop of oil forming very slowly on the seam of the transmission.

I think mine may also be leaking fronm the same place, were can i purchase this kit? and can it be done with the gearbox in the car?
