  Black Mk2 Ph2 1.2
I have just turned 17 and have always wanted a black mk2 ph2 clio. Haven't passed my test yet but have found a car that i think i'm going to buy. I need to know if im getting a good deal, if i should pay the advertised price to make sure i get it, or negotiate. Any specific common problems i should look out for? My budget is 3k

The car is:
1.2 Mk2 Ph2 Clio
Black 3 door hatch
2004, 12k miles
One owner
Always garaged
Advertised at £2950

Any tips/advice/feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

Depends if that's a main dealer price, car supermarket price or a private sale.

Always negotiate, I reckon it will be a good buy the closer you can get to £2500.

Personally I think you need to be looking into why the car has only done (if the mileage is correct) 2k miles a year. The car has the average mileage for a year old one.

There's also a lot of other things you need to look out for. You need to check whether the belts etc have been done on it services.

Infact you haven't mentioned services in the post. What service history does it come with?

This. But before you ask its cam belt, auxiliary belt and tensioners. And water pump whilst your at it.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I've been told that the car was used by the dad only for runs to the train station on rainy days, and then by the daughter to learn in. It's a private seller, and it has full service history at the correct mileages/dates.

Does the fact that its a private seller mean that I should pay less?

Does that fact that it has only been used on really short journeys cause potential problems?

This will be the first car that I've ever bought so any advice at all I'm more than grateful for!

Thanks again!
