* HELP * New Clutch Cable rubbing on hose

I fitted a new clutch cable to my 172 recently as the old one was all stiff and basically shot.

The new clutch cable a received from Renault was exactly the same as as the one i removed bar having two big weights attached to it.

I thought nothing of this so proceeded to fit it to the car and after fitting it realised that one of the weights are rubbing on the hose coming from the bottom of my header bottle.

I have tried moving the hose to the side away from the weight but it still rubs when i refit the airbox and press the clutch pedal :(

I've tried raising the airbox but as soon as i refit the Intake hose it goes back to the same level and still rubs.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

And what was the cure to it ?

As i don't wanna run for too long with it like this, as i can see the clutch cable weight rubbing through the hose.

P.s I don't wanna splash out on new airboxes just to clear the hose and cable.

sorry i cant help you, but what is the purpose of the weights? can you not take the middle one off, or is it not removable?

Na there not removable without grinding them off and i'd probably go through the cable.

And to remove my old clutch cable i had to break the tab clip things which clip it inside the hole going through the bulkhead into the car to get it out and don't fancy doing it with this one.

There was tabs on the big black bit here i had to break off to free it from bulkhead.

That'll be the new cable f**ked if i have to break them to get it removed.

The weights are meant to make the clutch lighter or something.

Trust the froggies to make one like this.

Unless i have a dodgy routing for my hoses.

Old one with no weights :)

just cable tie the hose away from it!

Thought about doing that, but not really anywhere to cable tie it to.

With out airbox rubbing on it.

Or has anyone got any pics of where the header/expansion tank bottom hose is meant to route through ?

30 something quid (can't remember exactly)

Have fun though.

All the sound deadening at back of engine bay needs ripped out etc

was it wheel drivers front wheel, arch liner off job? i am pretty good with some spanners. Is there any gap to adjust or anythign or is it just a case of putting the new one into the bulk head and connecting it up?

  Lots of Alfas
It routes in behind the wheel arch just under the master cylinder.

I beleive the weights are to reduce the vibration felt throught the pedal when changing gear at high revs.
