Has to be a Ex race car for that sort of money.

All set up and ready to go.

Or as said a atom or a caterham.

£30,000?!

There's some decent looking porches on pistonheads at the mo. Or an ex race mantis if that takes your fancy? Do you want it to be road legal, or trackday only?

This thing is probably bonkers fast:

Track day only:

(racing lotus, if you can up the budget a bit!)

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1157750.htm - no idea what it is but looks fun!

Wish I had that sort of budget. I'm thinking of getting a track car next year - for £4kish!

Pistonheads is the curse of man... spend hours on there.

oh yes. It's the looking for the little gems through all the dross and incredibly bad/illiterate (spelling?!) adverts. Honestly, I don't know how some people actually expect to sell the vehicle they put up there!

you must be able to get a decent caterham or a radical for that mate. nothing better for track :approve:

  Turbos.
Just focus on something that won't be too expensive to repair or source parts.

That Motorsport Elise is like ours, but bear in mind running costs in a few months were the same as the purchase price.

That Marcos is interesting. I have raced against these and they are incredibly fast, much faster than you would think. It depends what spec of course, i would hardly have 'ex-Shane Lynch ' as a selling point!

Is it something you are intending to use as an everyday car aswell?
If not, a TVR Tuscan challenge race car could be interesting aswell?

^ Not sure about the colour scheme but... Want

If you wanted something you can probably use everyday, how about an R26R and £10k change?

98% track but maybe once in a blue moon if its dry a blast so 2% chance of that ha

that's an enviable amount of money to be spending on a toy! do you need to spend that much though? (just trying to imagine what you might feel comfortable in from the tone of your posts; 30k will obviously buy you something very serious). personally, i'd love something like a CSL R300 and the time to learn how to drive it well

Henry its dependant on the car is its a tad over budget ill consider. its does not have to be exactly that much less is totally fine. not minted but life is too short not to have fun when you can thats my defence anyway lol

just wondering, as it may help - what sort of stuff have you experience of driving on track and have you a trailer and tow vehicle?

the ex-race car option does sound interesting but i imagine a lot of them are likely to be inherently high-maintenance?

got a few friends who own garages so hoping they arer able to cope with whatever goes wrong ha. yeah towing not a problem got a trailer and range rover. experience not so much on a track played with friends cars on the roads. used a csl, gtr 33 nissan both blisteringly quick but thats a whole different ball game to a track with a specific car to race in. id rather jump in the deep end with a great car and build up my skill level

google Caterham hire as that might be an interesting introduction.

have fun shopping around! would like to be in a similar/ish position some day:)
