Help!! Timing Belt.....

Ok, took my car to a garage (Turner Brothers/Pontadawe) have the timing belt changed this morning, they just phoned me now to say they've gone as far as they can and they cant do it as it needs 'speacial tools' which I did mention before hand. They did quote me £305+VAT. So I've just called Renault in Llanelli and got a quote......£614.31

Does anyone know any garages in the Swansea area that can do timing belts so I can get quotes?

A decent garage should be able to make the tools, mine did.

I've called 4 different garages, waiting on 2 to ring back the other 2 said no can do...I'm not going to Renault, they did me over the last time I went there. "one garage said, it's not a very popular car so there's no need to have the required tools to change a timing belt". Ok pal... I'm stressed.

LOL - the tool costs £40. Its a locking pin for the crank and a locking tool for the cams.

Contact any independant tool supplier and tell them you need the cam belt tool kit for the Renault F4R type engine

and even cheaper if you buy the sealy items.

Every garage should have one - if they dont they havent got a very good set up

Why haven't garages got these? So does anyone know anywhere in my area that could do this...? my clock is on 61k....so needs doing asap. What are your local garages charging compared to Renaults £614?

quite a bit to travel to get that done, though would be cheaper driving up than going to Renault.....

If I have no luck down here I will consider it...used to work in work in Exeter few years back. How long would it take you to do?
