Help with Cup

  Nippy white cup

Dont know if anyone has any ideas but its gone cack again. When accelerating in 3rd it sometimes hits a limiter early and today it did it 4th. Not all the time and doesnt seem to be just when the engine is hot. Also it doesnt seem to have the same pull when coming on cam. I recently replaced the plugs and it seemed to sort it out but after just over a week it has gone again!

Cheers

What do you mean early and is it just once then ok or when its doing it does it keep doing it? Leo had a prob where the car felt like it was hitting a limiter. It was doing it at like 4k or something everytime then it was up to 5k then 6k then started doing it a 4k again. Rev needle was bouncing right up and down going mad, does yours do this?

Problem turned out to be a sensor. Cant remember which one though. If it sounds like your problem I can find out.

Sounds a bit like it m8. Went to pick Nic up just now and it seems a little better but not quite as big a difference when coming on cam. Ill see what its like at York tomoz

its not the early rev limiter when the engines not fully hot then?

maybe a faulty ing coil, when does the fault appear?(what rpm)

I used to have a 106 Rallye, and that had a problem that felt like it was hitting a limiter lower than usual. It turned out to be a faulty connection to the crank sensor. (im no mechanic, this is what the garage said at the time) It took them 3 weeks to find it! Luckily it was under warranty. I know they are totally different cars, so probably nothing like it!

Cheers guys. I was coming back from York 2day and when I set off it seemed ok(but not quite as quick) but after a while the missing came back. It pretty much seems to be when coming on cam. In 5th about 100 it misses intermitently(sp) but it also did it in 4th again around the time it comes on cam. When it doesnt miss it doesnt seem to pull when on cam anywhere near like it usually does. Any ideas would be greatly appriciated.....is there a cam sensor or something that might be the culprit?

Cheers

most likely a faulty coil pack from what your saying but may also be a tdc sensor problem. should be warranty though.

Cheers again m8. Its going into renault a week on monday so Ill point them in that direction. Hopefully itll sort it as I dont think I can go to York and just watch again! It was killing me today!

Thanks

Chris

Is it intermittently hitting a lower limiter at about 5-6 k? I bet if you run it for a few more days it will eventually not start! (That’s what happened to me a few months ago)

They took 2 weeks to find the problem on mine as well! Said it wouldnt happen when they had it on the diog machine, it eventually logged the fault and they fixed it.
