Help with turning air bag lights off please

  RenaultSport 172
Hi guys. Recently put some cobra misanos in my 172 and now its time to turn off the air bag lights. I followed the guide by edde but have run into problems. Firstly, I got 3 ohm resistors from maplins. The pretensioner plug is back the way it was standard as I've kept standard seat belts etc. I put the resistors into the black plugs as described but the lights never went out. Now my problem is that there are 2 wires that I had to disconnect to take the seat out but are not mentioned in the guide. I have taken some pictures below. It definitely looks like non factory standard. Some monkey has been mucking around with the wires but I have no idea why. Please hel pme out if you can as mot time is approaching.

Above: what the hell is this? is on standard seat but obviously not on new one. Does it matter?

Above: these are the two wires leading to the thing in the first pictures. I had to cut these to take the seat out.

Above: here is the mess found under the drivers seat. The passenger side is not like this! Whats going on here then? The blue & brown ones you see are going to the seat belt pretensioner. The two on the top right I taped up after cutting them from the wires shown in pic 2. There are another 2 taped up wires (orange?) that you can see. They were like that already!!!

Another pic of the mess.

Above: On another note. Any idea what the hell this means?

So guys. What do I have to do to turn the air bag lights off? :(
PS: I know my resistors aren't plugged in in the pics.

Thanks very much for any help
Steve
PS: I've pm'd edde with no response so far :(

^^ yeah but you have stopped all the airbags working

if all else fails mate, put it on the clip at a garage and get them to turn of the light for you

Right. The micro switch on the seat as i recall is to stop the airbag triggering if the seat is too close to the steering wheel. The swich is closed when the seat is too far forward. So as you've cut them, it will make no difference (dont short them). The resistor needs to go into the multiplug on pic 3, on the outer edges.. Think your car had the renault recall over the dodgy connectors under the seat, no biggie :)

Ok, but putting the resistors in does not turn off the lights. So whats the next step? Are you saying this micro switch thing won't affect it at all?
So something is not right, but what to do I check first?

Thanks

Micro switch should not affect anything. When i've fitted mine i always did one seat at a time (reconnect batt and check for any fault lights etc) thus if there were any faults, you can pin it down to just the one side etc. I would first check the resistors with a multimeter, maplins have been know to give out the wrong values!!!! Anything between 2-6 is good, i went for 4 ohm as its in the middle.

connectors on mine, sorry, the black is not used, so ignore my post when i said the resistors need to be in the outer pins

Right guys. Nearly there. I got so fed up I just plugged the old seats back in and the light still didnt go out! Its the micro switch thats causing the problem. Probably cos some monkey has mucked around with all that wiring. I connected the switch and hey prestot the light goes out. Just gotta see if I can get the swtich off the standard seat and wire it up. Otherwise I will need to buy a 100ohm resistor to replicate it.
Thanks for your help though gaz
