Help with USB port.

I am as thick as they come with computers,so bear with me.

I just bought an ipod nano 16gb for my wife.Ive downloaded i-tunes to mp pc but when i connect the player through the usb it tells me that it has malfuntioned and doesnt recognise it.Ive also been through the troubleshooting guide and it says everything is working.

im lost,please help.

Do you have another pc/laptop you can just plug it into... if it says the same then as above.

Seriously, is it fully charged? It may cause the problem if it has no juice. Sometimes they aren't picked up. Also see if you can connect it to another computer.

Also are your motherboard drivers up to date? Have you tried other devices by USB?

Try other USB ports.

My limux camera works fine on both ports that i have if that helps.
