HELP - won't start

03 Clio was sat on the drive for a week, tried starting but nothing, checked battery with battery checker that plugs in lighter and it said it was low.

Charged the battery, tried starting, it grunted a bit then stoped and then just clicked when I tried again.

Tried jumping it, every time I tried starting it, it would grunt a bit but still wouldn't start.

Tried pushing it down a hill and then it just clicks.

ANY IDEAS? I just need to get it to the garage to get a new battery.

Sounds like mine when the battery was knackered.

I had to bump start it by pushing it backwards.

sounds fun, backward down a hill with no power steering. Why does backward do it better than forwards?

Nope just pushed it much faster forwards in the end
