HELP!!!

right im in trouble.
Following on from my previous thread about changing the inlet manifold, this has happened.

It looked like rain so rather than fight with the side bolt near the aux belt i decided to bolt everything back up and pop the new plenum on and change the lower manifold another day.

I've finished hooking everything back up and bolting everything down and now the engine is idling at about 3k, and when i tap the throttle, the revs just increase, they dont dip back down to the previous idle point.

Ideas?

did you remember to connect all the hoses back onto the plehnum for example carbon canister/brake vacuum hose etc etc..

Itl be something simple

I agree on an air leak matey, make sure everythings connected back up right as everyone has mentioned

thanks for the help guys much appreciated.

I assumed it was an air leak just couldnt figure out where from. Everything was plugged in and connected as it should.

Ended up swapping the matched plenum back to my original one and it seems fine again.

Next time i try the swap i think its time for an all new gasket set, as thats the only thing i can think of - the throttle body gasket looked ropey on the new plenum so perhaps it wasnt sealing right.

My bets is that the little rubber gasket on the underside of the plenum had fallen off if your sure everything was plumbed back in correctly.

I took my plenum/inlet off a good 10+ times with the same gaskets with no problem at all.

Weird...

As far as I was aware

Rubber seal between TB - Plenhum

Spring steel Plenhum - Inlet

Spring steel Inlet - Head

Ah okay! maybe they were black on the PH1 I cant remember been a little while since I last worked on one. But on my old car it was definately orange lol
