you wouldn't believe the problems i have had because of that bloody riser card for the dl380, it was a joke, i know, lets bring out a new server with only PCI-E slots and tease people with a riser card that we won't ship for 8 weeks. Oh and did we forget to mention that all our cards are PCI-X, oh but wait, we are bringing out a PCI-E SCSI card to connect your tape drives, but lets see, we'll release that the same week we ship the PCI-X riser cage so that people can buy nothing, then get two options.

Oh and while we are at it, lets introduce a SAS tape drive, but we won't make it easy for people as none of the current range of cards will attach to it so its only for the mantlepiece.

As much as I love HP, they had a shocking G5 launch, such a great product but such a bad implementation!

Its all good now though and c-class blades are the best there is.

Customer service though, its luck of the draw, you either get a decent person or a sh1t person, thats just the way it is, try dealing with Dell!

Dell are actually good CS wise as long as you have Business Premier support on your products, which also means you talk to the folk at Dublin.

If you don't have Business Premier they suck cause you have to talk to Mumbai and wait in a huge queue.

From my experience (all our PC's are Dell Leased, blade servers paid for) Dell are pretty good, next day on-site service for parts/repairs. I guess you get what you pay for with Dell.

BT are a fking joke though, they do my freaking head in!

the indigo press i work on it a pile of wa*k....the only thing worse it the customer service! Totally shocking. It takes days to get someone out to fix it rather than hours like xerox, then you have to speak to some tw@t from holland how tries to talk you through difficult tasks in their cack broken english.
Even now im still stuck at work cos the hp pc running the press has decided to have a strop and fuk up (tho this is prob down to running windblows xp rather than unix like our other printers)

Ive now aquired quite a lot of HP stuff in my work.. lappy's Desktops etc.. and can honestly say ive been pretty impressed with the quality of components vs. cost. Ive also not had any problems with any of them.

shite customer service, desktops that have worked have lasted quite well tho. We changed to a Dell contract tho mostly due to their customer service problems.

Also have a personal thing against them as they made my old boy redundant after 28 years working for them as an accountant. Gave him the least amount as a pay off too. Coonts

their networking kit is good and a lifetime warranty on it for no extra cost

but for servers dell all the way
LOL, whats better about Dell servers?

Dell spend £0 on R&D, they are a re-brander, most of their stuff is fujitsu siemens and they aren't known for having the best servers.

HP's management and deployment tools can't be matched, plus things like ILO. plus if i was an it manager i wouldn't want to have to wait over a week to take delivery whereas HP can be got same day.
