Heya New Member... want's a clio!?

  206 GTi Replica
Hello peeps Im Tom... Brand new here.... Little story.... i had a 206 an i loved it, spent a lot of money to get it looking like a GTi180 and it looked sexual;), then one day on the way into a shopping center car park after going a bit fast on a hot day it overheated and exploded into flames:dapprove:, after a little cry and whilst i watched my pride and joy melt away infront of me, the insurence are going to pay out a nice lil chunk for it and now i fancey a clio :rasp:.... Im only 19 and just lost my no claims i used to have a 1.4 206... now im looking at the 1.2 16v Clio (With the black lights at the front:eek:)

Sorry for my bumb ass turms... as im sure you all know whats the diffrence on every model just as i did on the 206s so im here for a bit of advice... on getting a clio... what to look for etc etc?

Thanks for reading my past 2 weeks life story! :approve:

Check insurance on a 172 you might be able to afford it at 19.

Otherwise get a 1.2 dynamique (preferably with air con)

ps. welcome mate :)

Kent.... Near Bluewater...

I really ont think ill get insured in a 172.... im looking around at the 1.2... is there a guide on here that shows the difference between all the models???

  None
Hello mate, consider the MK2 1.4 sport model too, my brother has one as he only just passed his test and it's not a bad little car at all, cheap insurance with subtle sport looks........ok it just has white dials but it's a good starting place :)

Just had a look at that model... dont really like it compared the newer shape... Is it a MK3 that i like?

My plan is basically get a 1.2 or 1.4 16v and turn it into a 172.... as im not going to be able to get insured in a real 172 :(.... ive had a look but i havent had the most lucky few months of driving... with 2 claims and 3 points its not looking to good for me so ive got to play it safe ;)

Can any one tell me what to look for when buying one.... what goes rong with the model etc?

Thanks for your replys so far!!!!

If you pay £10 membership mate there is a buyers guide in the guides section on here where it tells you EVERYthing. What to check/common problems etc.

  Was a 197
the dynamique has practically the same interior as a 172/182, just different trim on the seats and a few other bits n pieces

Oh and welcome

Thanks for more info.... To be fair im not going to pay for a subscription to a site for a car i haven't yet got.... the buyers guide should be free so that members can then buy one and then join onto the site????

Im hopefully going for a 1.2 or 1.4 16v dynamique if i can find one.... im keeping my eye in auto trader and when i get the pay out from my 206 ill be going to an auction... i love the dash and interoior of the clios and i like to front end... not to keene on the rear comapred to the 206 but it will grow on me... what is the BHP and MPG of the 1.2/1.4??? MY 206 was RUBBISH on fuel but it was very nippy for a 1.4 8V.

yeh but you are already set you are going to buy a clio yes? So you will be joining the forum when you buy it yes?

So you may aswell join now & get loads of usefull information about the car you are planning to buy. Worse comes to the worse - you dont buy a clio and you lose out on £10 but get a mint bottle opener

i think the 1.4 is the better alrounder, more power and with a lad like yourself driving you will see better mpg out of the 1.4 also :D

the 1.2 8v is flat end of
the 1.2 16v is alright but no speed machine
the 1.4 8v is a nasty engine poor design etc etc
the 1.4 16v nice engine resonable power and mpg, one thing to look out for is the pencil coil packs on them.

everything is in my opinion, i work at a renault garage so i see/fix plenty of these little run abouts and get to know what goes wrong from experience.

opinions expressed are entirly my own and open to your own evaluation

hutchie

ps the 1.2 16v is riddled with problems, engine looms injectors ecu's etc AVOID imo

OK so from what ive heard is that a 1.4 16v dynamique is the one to look for... problem is i haven't actually ever come across one :S lol

100BHP will do me fine... i have a heavy foot so every little helps.

  Dynamique Flamer
I have a 1.2 16v and nothing (touch wood) has ever gone wrong apart from the sun roof LOL don't get a sun roof...........

Welcome mate

Get your insurance through diamond or somethin with you as a named driver under your mums or gfs name, will be much cheaper that way.
