Hi all! perhaps you can help?

  IS PH2 172
ive recently baught (yesterday recently) a 53 plate 172 which im loving... however... its had a full service from the place i baught it from but they have left the service light on!!! is there any way i can disable it myself without taking it to renault or back to the garage?
Secondly i have notice that when cornering sharply the stop/handbrake light flickers on as if some sort of loose connection... can anyone give me a few pointers of how i can sort this out myself?
cheers!

Hey mate. Welcome to the forum. Become a member and it will let you access all the other areas on the forum and guides to show you how to do stuff. I think the handbrake light could probably be solved by tightening the handbrake. I dont know if its done from inside the car or under the chasis. Also, if anyone round your area has a hand-held machine they can turn it off for you.

Fill in your location so people know where you are.

afaik the service light indicated a fault not thats its due a service.

Brake light could indicate low brake fluid or pads.

The brake fluid resevoir is at the back left of the engine bay, just make sure your engines cold when fiddling down there coz the manifold is right next to it and youll prob stick to it if you catch it with the back of your hand.i reckon the serv light might be on since it noticed a fault in your braking system , just a hunch.

The serv light comes on with another light, to indicate a fault in that system. I.e If it comes on with the airbag light, theres a fault with the airbag system. If it comes on with he ABS light, theres a fault with the ABS etc.

Get it plugged in at the garage you bought it from and they'll have to sort it. It could be a dodgy airbag connection (if theres no other light on, the bulb could have gone, IIRC they are led's though) or something more sinister and expensive.

Welcome to the forum and good luck getting the car sorted - as people have said, pop it into the garage where you bough it, they'll sort it...

Random question mate, do you play for Northwich Victoria by any chance?
