Hi Everyone

Hi One and All

Just poking my head in and saying hi as a newbie.

Hopefully this weekend I will be purchasing a 182 and I'm just wondering what I need to look out for as this is my first Renault.

I have had a varied array of cars, most notably a Pug 106 GTi (which I loved), a Golf VR6 and until last week a Golf GT TDi with KW Coilovers, Eibach ARB's and genuine R32 Alloys which was written off.

I have now decided that the best car for my budget is a 182!!

So any pointers guys?

Cheers

No I haven't set up any Owners Club unfortunately.

You may have seen my mates blue 106 though as he has spent a fortune on it at various places like the French Car Show and at Santa Pod a few weeks ago racing a yellow 106!

As for pics of my cars I have a few old ones of my 106 somewhere, the VR6 wasn't that great apart from the engine.

My GT TDi that has just been written off had only just been finished having everything fitted by Stealth Racing and what with laying my patio, house improvements etc I just didn't bother taking any pics which I'm gutted about now, not to mention the money spent!!

I've always been a member of owners clubs as I find knowledge is invaluable and there is always someone that can solve a problem.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be a fully fledged 182 owner!!

I'm looking at a silver 182 with the cup pack on it.

Problem is that I've just found out that it has 3 new Kumho Tyres put on it which I'm unsure about and the ad has been amended as it originally said it had the cambelt changed at 60000 (even though the mileage is 58000) and now it is amended to 36000 so will be due another service. It is also out of tax at the end of the month so this is giving me food for thought.

Thanks for the welcome!!

Still undecided whether to go and have a look at the 182 today!!!

Does anyone think the tyres make much difference as this is what is putting me off?

Does it need a service too if it is at 58000 miles?

Welcome mate good choice on the 182.

If its done 58k heres what will have needed done...

- Timing belt is due @ 5 years or 72k miles, whichever soonest.
- It should have at the very least 4 service stamps all of which consiting of a general oil change, spark plugs and fuel filter and oil filter.
-it should be in good nick generally, if its not been cherished, run away.

You got a link to said car so we can have a look??

That looks in fairly good nick!

Cam belts been done and fsh with one female owner aswell.

If everything is as the seller states id offer £4950 for it.

Also, remembe to do a HPi on it to make sure it isnt catogorey registered/out standing finance/more than the said amount of owners etc>>>

Yeah I like it but what puts me off is that she has put 3 budget tyres on it
(Kumho Ecsta SPT's) and it is also due tax which I'm not used to paying after a diesel!!

I was thinking about 4700 would be an ideal price.

Are the cup packs worth it?

Cup packs definatley improve the look (atleast for me anyway)

If the price is right i wouldnt be put off by the tyres, thats easily sorted even though they are a b**ch of a size

I think I'll arrange to view it then.

I'm only sceptical about tyres from an experience with my Golf.

I had crappy Marshall tyres on the rear when I bought it. Road noise was horrendous and I changed the rear wheel bearing because of the hum only to find out later it was the appalling tyres. Changed to Goodyear F1 Asymetrics and they were the dogs!! So hence my apprehension!!

Better call the insurance company and enquire about the premium!!!

Yeah I had Toyo's on my VR6 and found them well priced and decent.

I'll just have to wear out the Kumho's then first.

And insurance is just a 63 quid adjustment (includes the standard 25 quid admin fee) and also puts my girlfriend on the policy!! Result!

I've checked the for sale section and there was one or two that interested me.

Just gotta keep a level head and not get carried away with the first one I want!
