Just thought I'd say hi.

Wanted a 172 for ages and found this one and don't see many round like it so I got it. Plenty of mk2 around and 182s but not many mk1s in black.

What you think?

All standard and like it that way. Gonna take it to Protune for a look at to check everything is fine.

Any suggestions are welcome. Also nearside door trim is loose and need some clips for it. Any suggestions other going to Renault parts dealership. How much would I be looking. Also need a condenser and it's leaking.

Seem to grip nice TBH. Mind you haven't drove one in ages so can't really compare.

Do you think they are a good choice of tyre for it? Obviously if I boot it in first any tyre will struggle. Also think exhaust is knocking sometimes when accelerating fast one uneven roads. Mechanic said all brackets are fine though. Doesn't do it when driving normal mind. Maybe just me.

Looks great, m8. The only thing cosmetic I'd do on a Mk1 is to lower it just slightly.

That's a minor point though - great car and like you, I love the alloys! :approve: The ones on the 182 look bland in comparison.

Wherabouts in Derbyshire are you?

I got the car from Sawley. Need to find a breakers near me with a Clio in then. Bump on the lowering but maybe in a few months.

Thanks for the comments bout the alloys. Do think the others look plain. Love the fact you don't see many of mine about and it's not another mkII with Cup alloys (even though they are great.)
Steve2004 I used Ali Cleaner by AutoSmart and a toothbrush (don't my missus it's hers) to clean the alloys.

Seen a condenser on ebay for £9.99 Buyitnow but seems cheap. Are all the condenser the same on 1998-2001 or is it different on the 172?

Thanks everyone for all the comments.

I joined cause you all seemed a good bunch and I am not dissapointed!

The car needed a right good valet when I got it. I cleaned inside of windows and the clothes were black. Did them with degreaser and then twice with cleaning paste! Also don't think it had a good wax in while and had some overspray on the back window boot and bumper. Bit of T-Cut and wax soon sorted it though. Waxed on the day took pictures as you can tell and done her since then!

Impressed with performance. Like the drive cause it ain't the niceist car to drive in heavy traffic but on clearer roads it's just so much fun. Nice responsive steering really lets me know whats going on. Mind you I drive a Volvo S80 at work and Vectra Estate most of the week so it does make the perfect Sunday car. lol.

Looking to maybe meet up sometime with other owners but it's something I have neva done before as I haven't had a suitable car to do it. My mate used to have an S reg Megane Coupe and was in Renault owners clubs so he'll probably join me.
Also looking at getting some plates done as my mate has started selling them. CrazyPlates.co.uk but not finished site yet. Was thinking Renault badge on the left and maybe www.ClioSport.net underneath. Anybody done similiar? Or any views.

Anyway again thanks!

Noticed you have a bit of extra trim on your front bumper. What is it?

Wish my front was as good as yours but motorway miles has stone chipped it and couple of scratches under bumper where idiot mechanics have tried to get it on ramps and it's caught. Before I owned of course!

ROB 172

Cheers

Think it's some sort of RGM splitter, the old chap before me had it fitted and I've left it on as it doesn't look too bad on a black car, any other colour and it would look gash imho.

It's had one respray since I've owned it as I do quite a few miles in the thing.
