Hi, Newbie here

  Boxster S
Hi everyone, a newbie here. Been a member here since 2011 back when I was looking to get a Clio, but ended up with an 06 Megane 225 Cup so never got to post here. A decision I later regretted and wished I had gone with the original plan of the Clio. Anyway Ive got a budget of £2000 and am looking for either a 172 or 182 but would prefer the 182 (purely on looks) with a mileage preferably under 80k and all the usual things like belts and dephaser already done. Tall order I know but here's hoping someone here may have or know of one that fits the description.
Anyway look forward to getting one and becoming involved with forum life. Great site by the way.
Cheers, Nick :D

and sorry for posting this in the wrong section. That's what happens when you get old, your eyes don't work :S

Id personally say up the budget, you'll up with a dog of a car otherwise!

Would love to up my budget but thats my lot at the mo. I know decent ones do exist for this money as I very nearly bought a forum members car ( Richinnes) but was beaten to it. A lovely well sorted 02 plate 172 some of you may well know it. If im honest im hoping someone with a car up at the 2300-2500 will drop their price for a quick sale. You never know, cash waiting here ;)

I reckon you'd get a 172 fairly decent condition for 2k , but buy on condition mate not on mileage ! I bought a 53 reg 172 with 44k , broke loads then engine have up in a week!

I bought a 182 with 94k loads better condition ! Miles aren't everything mate !

I got a 182 on 53k miles FF with belts and dephaser done for £2700.

It's not a dog either.

Welcome Boxa.

Sounds like a nice car Scott just a bit to rich for me at the moment unfortunately. I have though PM'd Gaz.t who has just put his 172 up for sale in the for sale section. Good advice Beasley on the buy on condition rather than mileage and something I say often myself, just need to follow my own advice :approve:

Haha it's easier said than done ! If you don't mind putting a bit of elbow grease in good efforts can be found ! I only paid £1600 for my 182 but I've spent a lot on it ! But it's easier to spend money over timer than in one go ! Lol

mine not any good?

Lovely car, but still over my budget. One of the reasons for my issue with mileage is resale value, and thats something I have to think about. If you put a car up for sale with 100k plus miles regardless of how its been looked after or the condition people always want it for nothing.
But your car is very tempting, probably one of the best out there.

Agree absolutely... my 109k Clio has been far better than my 45k one!
