So a couple of weeks ago I noticed that when I revved the car up to about 6k RPM a high pitched squeel(?) noise was present from somewhere near or in the engine bay. It's a 2001 phase 1 172.
Made a little clip (Car not moving, in neutral):
I found this thread which might apply to my problem(?):
http://www.cliosport.net/threads/high-pitch-wining-aux-belt-or-alternator.460494/
The sound doesn't appear to be present when driving and hitting the rev limiter in any of the gears. Also been having some issues with the alternator (I think, but definitely from something driven by the AUX belt) making a squeeling noise when I first start the car after letting it sit for a day or two. It goes away when the car is warm.
I'm not sure when the AUX belt was last changed but the timing belt was done just a couple of months ago at a specialist.
Who can identify the sound?
