high pitched whisle wind noise at 60-80mph

  Clio 182
HI All,

Here is a question for you all, I have just developed a high pitched whisle sound comming from the winsreen area between 60-80 mph, it sounds like wind noise and stops when I slow down below 40. Does anyone have any ideas of things to check? vents/windscreen seals?

Any helpful suggestions greatfuly received!

Rich :)

When you look at the seals on either side of the windscreen, at the top is a square plastic bit that comes loose and causes this.

You can fix it by either pushing them back in place, or if they won't sit right, use silicone sealant.

Get some black silicone in a tube from Halfords or the like, put a blob under the loose bit, then tape it flat with some masking tape. I used 3m 3434, the blue tape painters use. This will come off the paint without damaging it. Leave the sealant a good while to go off (overnight), carefully remove the tape, and pick any sealant that's come out off with your fingernail.

That's it. Silicone will hold it down but is very easy to get off if the seals ever need to be removed.

I'd say it was the seals, a mate has the same problem.

If you add some gaffer tape over the seals and then go out for a drive you'll soon find out if it is/isn't !
