High revs when clutch is dipped...Possible TPS Sensor?!

When I dip the clutch on my 172, revs go high (usually 2000-2500rpm). This does not happen all the time though and seems to have no pattern to when it does. Anyone had a similar problem and overcome it?

i have this problem too. i have noticed it a lot lately.... i thought it might have been acc cable, changed that but didnt make any difference... i had car hooked up to a snap on diognostics machine and it showed codes for idle control sensor... euro car parts do these for £56... not done mine yet tho, i find a tap on the acc pedel sorts the problem haha

In your case then dwizzle its either a sticking or faulty IACV but you need to clean out the plastic housing that it sits in to before you change the sensor itself.

nnf - yours could be the same issue but it could also be something as simple as it needs a new throttle cable to

Thanks guys I'll have a look at it closer and maybe change throttle cable as a first instance.
