Heyy, I'm Leah, I'm new and from Middlesbrough
I'm looking to buy - and struggling to find - a 172 (hence the cheesy username) I can only seem to find cups! Always said after my last French car that I'd never own another one and that it would be VAG from now on... Yet after gentle persuasion, here I am!
Don't know a single thing about Clios either so if anyone has any tips on what to look out for when buying one, they'd be greatly appreciated. Better still, if anyone can point me in the direction of somebody selling one, that would also be nice

Depending on mileage cam-belt change is a must my old 182 failed me due to this so lesson learnt! Test how smooth the gear box is especially 2nd-3rd if stiff or makes a grinding sound id give it a miss! I'm sure there's other things that people will comment and help you!

Thank you the two I've got my eye on say they've had cam belts but someone mentioned a dephaser to me?!

When they say they've had the cambelts done, ask where as lots that have been "tippex timed" by back street garages and the timing will be out as they need specific locking tools to do the job correctly

Looks nice and clean, welcome to the forum.

When were the belts done? Any plans for mods?

Ermm they were done last year I think, it's in the pile of receipts the bloke has gave me, wasn't long ago though, it had a new clutch a year ago too and a new stainless exhaust and induction kit
I'm going to drop it just a little and possibly a remap but other than that I've got no plans, also going to get the dephaser done as it's making a little bit of noise but other than that it's spot on for it's age

Just sorted my lights out, don't think they'll ever be perfect but they're definitely a lot better!
